The Arc of Riverside County, a local non-profit agency, will hold a free morning workshop for potential and current administrators and instructors of the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Teaching and Research Awareness Campaign (FASTRAC) curriculum. The FASTRAC curriculum is designed to teach the next generation of parents about the dangers of drinking alcohol during pregnancy, a behavior that leads to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. FASTRAC is currently being used by peer-teachers in high school freshman health classes and in other places where young people meet.

The workshop will focus on the FASTRAC curriculum and great ways to implement the overall NineZero Project. Peer students will be involved in this dynamic presentation. The NineZero team will introduce new features of the curriculum that enhance the peer teaching experience. We will illustrate how to involve young people in NineZero activities beyond the classroom and reveal new facets of the NineZero social marketing effort including the NineZero message video contest and NineZero Games.

Who will benefit from attending? If you are a teacher or an administrator and recognize the importance of this topic; or if you would like the perfect project for your students that teaches poise, self-confidence and public speaking, this workshop is for you. Others involved in any aspect of FASD treatment or prevention should also attend. Finally, youth counselors and facilitators of programs for youth groups in the community can benefit. Plus, attendees will receive our new enhanced version of FASTRAC and other NineZero materials at no cost.
